The Fundamentals of the Big Book

   This isn’t theology.

   This isn’t a watered down get-well-quick program.

It’s not a clinical program run by academics.

And it’s not a medical detox program.

Number 16 is a program for people who want to take their recovery seriously and free themselves from the soul crushing addictions and obsessions that have been dominating their lives and the lives of those around them.

As recovered addicts, we passionately believe that recovery is possible for everyone and that the best way to get well and stay well is through dedication and discipline to the fundamental 12 Steps originally published in Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered From Alcoholism in 1939. You will often hear this referred to as the “Big Book.”

We believe in taking ownership and accountability for our addictions and that a Power greater than ourselves can restore us.

At Number 16, you will not find a lot of excuses. What you will find is an environment that will help you work the 12 steps and the support from a staff and community dedicated to your recovery.

The Importance of Community

Going to Church doesn’t Make you a Believer.

Going to Meetings doesn’t fix you.

The Number 16 community is made up of men with virtually nothing in common except their journey to get well. From powerful business men to young men who’ve never held a job for more than 3 months, the community of Number 16 is a powerful part of the process; helping each other with the 12 steps and holding each other accountable as they work toward becoming recovered.

Dozens of alumni regularly attend meetings and other events at Number 16 and offer themselves as sponsors and mentors to help others recover. At Number 16 we realize that you need to be prepared for life beyond being a guest, so we actively encourage family members and spouses to become part of the community as well.
